It’s beginning to look….

This last week was a pretty awful, stressful, all-around terrible week.  This weekend was a just-plain-bad weekend for Buffalo sports.  My house is a mess and I have no time to clean it.  I have no food.  I lost my cell phone and had to spend waaaay too much money to get a new one.

But a few hours ago, I looked out my window and I saw the first snowflakes of this season. (Or at least the first snowflakes that I’ve seen this season.)

I love the snow!

What was…

I’m sorry I haven’t been posting lately but it’s been CRAZY lately!  Halloween was super fun but I drank a little too much which put me out of commission for Saturday (which sucked) but I had a Great Time!!  Work’s been hectic and my brother is in town to visit so I’m pressed for time to say the least.  However, I just wanted to remind everyone to vote tomorrow!!  Do go on about blah, blah, blah, it doesn’t matter in New York anyway.  Just vote!

I’ll try to post soon!!

Hello, gift-giving murderer!

So I woke up this morning, ready and energized (thanks to 3 cups of coffee) to go to work when I opened my front door and found three large boxes sitting there.  Oddly enough, they all had no return address, just mine including (obviously) my name.  So I dragged them inside, curious enough, and opened them right there.  THey were filled with stuff!  For my home!  Not new things, packed straight from a store, but older, gently-worn-in tpes of things.

Don’t get me wrong, some of it is awesome!  There’s this silver rimmed mirror that’s beautiful and a few matching wooden picture frames…

The thing is… I have no effin clue who sent me these things!!  I called my mother, she had no idea; I called my grandmother, both aunts, and brother… all said no.  My mother was actually freaked out by the whole situation and reminded me to lock all my doors and windows before going to bed.  I laughed really hard at her… I mean, what kind of evil genius gives you gives before he crawls into your house to kill you?

Anyway… whoever is sending me these things, Thanks!  I love the picture frames!

Political Rantings Courtesy of Someone Who Hates Politics…

So apparently Sarah Palin is dropping another puck at a hockey game.  Am I the only one that wants to scratch my eyes out when I hear any news about what this annoying woman is doing?  I mean, I’m not a political person.  I think that, for the most part, all the candidates every year are irritatingly irrational people who will say anything to make people like them, but something about this woman is beyond my normal dislike.  I hate her!!  Her voice, that accent, how ridiculously stupid she is… I mean, Alaska?  How in the world is a woman from Alaska supposed to understand what’s going on around here, in the actual United States? Alaska is pretty much Canada, and I don’t know about you, but I don’t want a practically Canadian woman becoming vice president.

I don’t mean to be a bitch but… I wish she would just go back to watching her Soap Operas and Opera, being a “hockey mom” back in Alaska, watching over her knocked up teenage daughter, and leave us the hell alone! Seriously, if I wasn’t already rooting for Obama because of the fact that McCain is, like, 170 years old, then I would because of this offensive woman who by no means represents me.

…to be honest, though, Obama has excellent views on woman’s rights.  I’m sure deep down he is, like all politicians, a terrible person, but he seems like the best damn terrible person out there.

Sorry to inflict my political views on you but, seriously, I hate her.

Watson and Ceasar

I’m feelin’ a little homesick today.  I don’t know why; In the last 4 years Buffalo has been my home for the majority of my time.  I think it’s that when I was at college, I could still “go home for the holidays” (not that I can’t do that now…) and my room was always the same and my home was where I had grown up.  Now, though, I’ve moved all my things out of my parents house and now my apartment is my actual home.  My high school prom queen crown is in a little case my mother made for it, hung up in the spare bedroom… my high school lacrosse trophies are arranged, also in my spare bedroom (I’m sorry for whoever has to spend the night in that room and have to wake up and see all my high school accomplishments I have arranged around the house)… all my stuffed animals are in the top of my closet in me bedroom…

It’s weird… I mean, I’ve always been a californian… now I’m a Buffalonian…

Don’t get me wrong, I love Buffalo and I would never have accepted a job and moved here if I didn’t like it, but It’s hard being across the country from all your family and childhood friends…

… and I miss Ceasar, my family’s black lab.

I’m just bummed out today.

On another note, I have visited the SPCA in Tonawanda and adopted a little kitten… If my camera was working, I would take a picture but, alas, it has been broken for the last couple months and I’m too cheap to buy another, so I have to describe him…

,,, he’s adorable!  He’s gray and teeny and super super affectionate.

His name, which I decided on yesterday, is Watson.  Make fun all you want, the other names I had in mind were much worse.

Tonight I have date number five with someone special… I hope we go out drinking. (isn’t that what everyone in Buffalo does on Friday nights?)

(I would prefer, honestly, to stay at home, drink a few beers, and watch the Sabres game but I think I should appear to be more girly than that.  That’s fine, thought, because I just bought new heels and I would love to wear them out!

Sorry, this is a boring post but it boosted my mood a little so that’s nice.

I hope my new super secret love interest, Craig RIvet, kicks some serious Canuck ass tonight!

One more thing, why the hell did the Red Sox win yesterday’s game?? It’s not fair!! Why doesn’t Baseball even out their teams salaries?   I mean, it’s easy to win championships when you still the best players from all the rest of the league.  I think the Red Sox and Yankees should both be banned from MLB.  They are ruining baseball!!

Confessions pt. 2

So on the topic of confessions, I have one that I have just realized… It took me awhile, but it is now safe to say that I, Korey, am in love with Craig Rivet.

Craig will now take questions concerning my love for him

"I am honored that Korey has chosen me as her favorite Sabre."

Phew, I feel better now.

I have a confession to make

A horrible, embarrassing confession.  You see, I love to read.  That’s not my confession; I’m pretty sure that anyone who takes the time to write a blog likes to read.  I love to read classics from Jane Austen to Charles Dickens, i love nonfiction (history books… yes, I minored in History, I’m a closet nerd), mysteries, easy-reading literature to thick-and-takes-you-about-a-month-to-finish-literature, and horrors.  (i don’t read fantasy or science-fiction.  Sorry just doesn’t interest me.)

Through all my life, I have been able to say that there is one group of books that I will not go near.  Trashy and useless, fluff and mind-numbing.  Well, my friends, I’m sad to say those days are behind me.  Yes, I have read, and enjoyed, my first romance book and I have bought another.

How can a seemingly well-rounded individual such as myself fall for such drivel, you ask?

Well, let me tell you… it was really, really enjoyable.  Sure, the plot lines were predictable and the characters were shallow, but it was entertaining, nontheless.  Happy endings and a feel-good-story… how can you go wrong?  Sure, if you want an interesting, thought-provoking read, look elsewhere.  If you are a hardworking individual (perferably a woman) who sometimes wants to get home from work and have a relaxing, enjoyable and easy time relaxing on your couch with a good book… maybe being a snob about romances are a waste of time after all.

82-0!!!

Whoo!!

That. Game. Was. Awesome.

I mean, I was a little worried at the beginning, and during the second period, and when i realized it was going to go to a shootout, but they pulled it off!! It was a fun time!  Everyone was in such a good mood and I probably spent way too much money on beer and a pretzel… but it was worth it!

My friend, Renee, and I sat next to two of the nicest Canadien fans ever.  Usually, I hate sitting next to the opposing team’s fans (who wouldn’t?) but they were so sweet, saying that they loved coming to Buffalo for games, everyone is so nice, and how they hope the sabres do well this year.  How nice is that?  I… didn’t say the same about their team but I did say that I loved Montreal (because it’s gorgeous!)  They had these cute french accents too…  I’m just saying that it was an experience!  It’s just so different then sitting next to a normal visiting team’s fan.

Flyers fans and Toronto fans… the worst!! Seriously, hate is too nice of a term for how I feel about them.  Who comes to a game in another team’s building and heckles the fans?  Well, in Philly it is probably something in the water that makes them terrible people because it’s how they act in real life too  (I really don’t like Philadelphia!) but in Toronto, if you take out the Maple Leafs, they are really nice people!

… of course, I heard the Buffalo fans are pretty bad, too, but… who am I to judge. (haha… i can be unfair and biased; It’s my blog.)

So, on another note, my apartment has a fireplace and I think I may have almost burned the place to the ground…  Am I really that stupid?  Hopefully not.

I am off to buy a new kitchen table today.

Why can’t you just shut up?

I have this mental problem that has been getting me into a lot of trouble lately.  See, when someone talks to me about a topic that is really the last thing I want to think about, lot alone have a conversation about (for instance, the underlying issues behind the stock market problems, or the a detail-filled explanation about how cell phones actually work, two actual conversations I had to live through in the last two days) my mind turns off and I do not pay attention to anything they say.  I know, it sounds like I’m just being bitchy, BUT I’M NOT!!  I try really hard to pay attention but, MY GOD, I just cannot deal with it.

I had to grow up with my brother, who is now an engineer for Symantec, and deal with him taking apart calculators and remotes, as he explained to me how it all works.  (He was my older brother so I had to deal… and yes he was a major nerd)  I’m done!  I can’t deal with people lecturing about things that no honest human being cares about in a one-sided conversation that lasts for hours.

The worst thing is I’m too nice to tell them to shut up so I just plaster a smile on my face and hope it all ends soon.

Anyway, I don’t mean to turn this into a hockey blog, mainly because I have no idea what I’m talking about most of the time, but for some reason I have this direct correlation to fitting in here in Buffalo and their sports teams.  My main football team is the niners (sorry) but the place in my heart for a favorite hockey team is completely devoted to the sabres.   So, on that note…

I love that they picked Rivet as their captain!  After he beat on Hollweg, I, and probably most of Buffalo, started to love him.  Hopefully, he takes the place of Drury and Briere and they can start over again.  A new leader!  A new season!  A new team… oh, wait… The Same Team!  (hmm, let’s overlook that, shall we?)   The opener is 2 days away and I’m so excited!!

This and That

So I don’t know if I should be embarrassed about this but… I really like that new Britney Spears song.  It’s such a bad song but… I’m one of those strange people that really get into it when I’m driving around.   Supposedly it’s supposed to be a female empowerment song… I don’t get it?  Isn’t it about some womanizing guy?

I’m kind of glad I didn’t get to watch the Bills game yesterday.  Poor Trent!!  I hope he feels better but it didn’t seem to be that serious (if a concussion can be not serious).  But what’s up with the defense?  They were terrible!  Mix that with the awful officiating and it was a no win situation.

SABRES START THIS FRIDAY!!! WHOOOO!!  I.Am.So.Excited.  I bought a new sabres shirt the other day, but it sucks because, even though I am a sane and rational person, I get really superstitious when it comes to hockey.  It makes no sense!!  In my mind, Miller lets in soft goals and Max goes all psycho with puck because I have worn the wrong shirt.  DON’T JUDGE ME!! (alright, judge away…)

The leaves are finally changing!!!  I live in North Buffalo and everyday I get super happy driving to work because it’s so pretty!!  Plus the weather is all fall-like.

I’m watching baseball lately and I have started to hate the Red Sox.  I know this will probably turn mostly everyone away but how can a team hate the Yankees (who I also hate) for being a power-house, over-bearing, player-stealing team when they do the exact same thing?  I mean, they’ve won enough championships!  Let another team have a chance.  (Plus Red Sox fans are probably the most annoying people on the earth)

Alright, my dinner is probably burning right now so… BYE!!
